Boys cross country: Kaneland, Harvest Christian advance to state

Kaneland and Harvest Christian each qualified their boys cross country teams for the state final meet in Peoria next Saturday.

At Saturday's Class 2A Woodstock North sectional, Kaneland scored 138 points to finish third. Grayslake Central won the meet and Belvidere North was second.

Leading Kaneland runners were Matthew Richtman, Austin Kintz, Sam Webster, Andrew Kantola and Sean Spaetzel.

Hampshire's Jacob Ouhry also qualified for state by finishing in 14th place.

Harvest Christian took third place at the Class 1A Oregon sectional. Johnsburg won the meet followed by Sterling Newman.

Scoring points for Harvest were Andrew Dobrescu, Mark Davila, Kyler Young, Michael Sisko and Riley Steiner.

In the Class 3A Schaumburg sectional, Crystal Lake South's Jonathon Prus (10th) and Cary-Grove's Alex Ratkovich (13th) qualified as individuals, while at the Class 1A Lisle sectional, Aurora Christian's Tanner Chada won the individual championship in a time of 16:24.
