Illinois man pleads not guilty to killing man with car
DANVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A 37-year-old eastern Illinois man has pleaded not guilty to aggravated drunk-driving in the death of a man struck by a car in a backyard.
According to the News-Gazette in Champaign (http://bit.ly/1PPgRB7 ), Jason E. Roberts is being held in the Vermilion County Jail in Danville on $250,000 bond after pleading not guilty Friday to aggravated driving under the influence in the death Robert Collins.
Police say Collins was struck by a car while in his girlfriend's backyard around 2 a.m. Thursday.
Police found Collins after checking on a report that a car had driven over the fence. He died about 30 minutes later. The car had driven away.
Roberts lives about a block away.
Public Safety Director Larry Thomason declined to say whether the men knew each other.
