Kuyt scores 2nd straight league hat trick as Feyenoord wins

AMSTERDAM (AP) - Retired Netherlands international Dirk Kuyt scored his second successive league hat trick Sunday as Feyenoord beat AZ Alkmaar 3-1 to stay level on points with Ajax at the top of the Eredivisie.

Ajax beat fifth-place Vitesse 3-1 in Arnhem to stay top on goal difference. PSV also won 3-1, against FC Twente on Saturday night, to stay third.

Kuyt opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a calmly taken shot into the top corner and gave his team the lead again in the 59th, deflecting a miscued effort by defender Bart Nieuwkoop past AZ keeper Gino Coutinho. Joris van Overeem had equalized for AZ in the 18th.

Kuyt made it two hat tricks in as many matches from the penalty spot after Coutinho had brought down Simon Gustafson.
