Strong finish from Schaumburg

Schaumburg's girls volleyball team capped its regular season with a thrilling 25-22, 20-25, 27-25 victory over visiting Prospect in the Mid-Suburban League second-place crossover match on Tuesday night.

Senior Abbie Rahn put down 19 kills and was 14-of-15 serving for the Saxons, who stand at 21-14 after coach Jeanette Pancratz earned her 808th career win.

Other attack leaders for the Saxons were Mallory Gerber (7 kills) and Lexi Ross (6 kills, 5 blocks) while Christina Candotti handed out 20 assists with 12 digs and 4 blocks. Teammate Jessica Hartzman collected 10 assists against the Knights (21-9), who play in the Lyons Invite this weekend.

Elk Grove d. Hoffman Estates: Rachel Kandefer (10 kills), Emma Slattery (5 kills) and Isabel Michniak (4 kills) led the attack for visiting Elk Grove (3-27) in the 25-8, 24-26, 25-17 MSL crossover triumph.

Alex Masnica (15 digs, 15 assists, 4 aces), Carly Crothers (19 digs, 2 aces) and Mary Cronin ( 9 assists) were other leaders for the Grens.

Jennifer Nailor (4 kills), Hanna Saurbier (3 kills), Anca Pintiliuc (3 kills) and Michelle Avila (2 kills) led the attack for Hoffman (1-33) while Kayla Major was 76-of-77 setting with 14 assists.

Wheeling d. Conant: Timber Terrell (8 kills), Michaela Vasey (5 kills) led the visiting Wildcats (7-23) on attack while Remy Janowski had 13 assists in the MSL crossover as Wheeling prevailed 25-22, 25-17.

Rachel Delanois had 5 kills for Conant while Jorie Wachal and Lauren Perri had 1 apiece. Kristina Loznjakovic handed out 7 assists.

Barrington d. Buffalo Grove: The host Fillies (12-23) received 8 kills from Gabrielle Morris and 5 from Megan Talbot in a 25-20, 25-14 MSL crossover win. Olivia Hagan added 6 digs and 10 points for Barrington.
