Trucks and pumpkins in downtown Libertyville

Trucks of all sorts were on display for children to see and touch Saturday at Cook Memorial Library in downtown Libertyville.

The 14th annual Touch the Trucks community event on West Church Street allowed children a chance to explore community service vehicles and meet their friendly drivers. Visitors had the chance to climb aboard a fire truck, a high-reaching cherry-picker, the library's own bookmobile and more.

Kids also had a chance to pick out and decorate pumpkins during the annual Pumpkinfest in nearby Cook Park.

The event was sponsored by the Libertyville Sunrise Rotary and the Libertyville Junior Women's Club, which asked participants for a canned food donation to the Libertyville Township Food Pantry.
