Palatine finishes unbeaten in MSL West

Palatine's girls volleyball team wrapped up a perfect run through the Mid-Suburban West with a 25-19, 25-13 victory over visiting Barrington on Thursday night.

The Pirates also landed on their 20th overall win of the season against 9 losses while going 10-0 in the West. They will host East each champ Hersey on Thursday for the MSL title.

Claire Chaplinsky put down a match-high 10 kills while Heather Holz added 4. Sydney Christiansen set the Pirates' offense with 18 assists and Alyssa Kronberg had 11 digs.

Megan Talbot (6 kills) and Olivia Hagan (11 digs) led Barrington (8-21, 5-4).

Schaumburg d. Hoffman Estates: Host Schaumburg finished at 7-3 in the MSL West with a 25-13, 25-13 victory as Abbie Rahn (8 kills) and Mallory Grber (4) led the attack. Christina Candotti had 10 assists and Jessica Hartzman added 8 for the Saxons (18-10).

Hoffman (1-28, 0-10) was led on attack by Hanna Saurbier (4 kills), Jennifer Nailor (2), Anca Pintiliuc (2) and Lauren Schrader (2). Schrader also collected 4 assists while Kayla Major had 7.

Fremd d. Conant: Fremd was led on attack by Ysabel Lee (8 kills,) Sara Ganas (4) and Bailey Hooker (2) as the visiting Vikings (16-8, 6-4) posted a 25-21, 25-20 MSL West triumph. Natalie Freund served 2 aces and handed out 17 assists while Karolina Sas collected 9 digs.

Conant (4-18, 2-8) was led on attack by Lauren Perri (7 kill), Ayla Kljako (4 kills, 2 block), Rachel Delanois (3 kills, 1 blocks). Kristina Loznjakovic had 17 assist and Ester Cho collected 19 digs. Jorie Wachal added 2 kills and Karli Heneghan 1.

Buffalo Grove d. Elk Grove: Buffalo Grove (4-14, 3-7) came away with a 25-21, 25-21 MSL East victory at Elk Grove.

The Grenadiers (2-27, 0-10) were led on attack by Alex Masnica (5 kills), Rachel Kandefer (4) and Emma Slattery (3) while Masnica also collected 7 assists, 8 digs and 2 aces.

Home School League: The Northland Royals won a conference game over the Home Run Kids in Gurnee 26-24, 25-10 and then dropped a 20-17, 25-20 decision to the Illinois Crusaders.
