Driver hurt when truck overturns on Route 53 ramp

A dump truck overturned on the ramp from northbound Route 53 to westbound Lake-Cook Road Thursday afternoon, sending the driver to the hospital and closing the ramp for about an hour, authorities said.

The single vehicle crash happened just before 1 p.m., Illinois State Police said. The driver was taken to Northwest Community Hospital with minor injuries.

The ramp was closed from about 2:50 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. while tow truck drivers worked to upright the truck and remove it from the scene. The cause of the crash was unknown, police said.
