Herman's Hermits to perform at the MAC

Herman Hermits featuring Peter Noone backed by a four-piece band performs some of the band's top hits of the '60s as well as covers of some of today's most popular pop tunes in an upcoming performance at College of DuPage.

The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, in McAninch Arts Center on the COD campus, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn.

At the age of 15, Noone achieved international fame as "Herman," lead singer of the pop band Herman's Hermits. The group's classic hits during the '60s include, "Silhouettes," "Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter," "Wonderful World" and "The End of the World." Herman's Hermits went on to sell more than 60 million recordings. Fourteen singles and seven albums went gold and the group twice was named Cashbox's "Entertainer of the Year."

Throughout the '70s, Noone performed, composed songs and produced recordings with such artists as David Bowie, Debby Boone and Graham Gouldman. The '80s found Noone starring as Frederick on Broadway in the New York Shakespeare Festival's production of "The Pirates of Penzance," a role he reprised at the world-famous Drury Lane Theatre in London and in both the U.S. National Touring Company and the International Touring Company productions of the show. He also starred in the Los Angeles stage premiere of "Topokana Martyr's Day" and the U.S. National Tour of the smash Broadway hit "Romance, Romance."

Noone's TV credits include "Married with Children," "Quantum Leap," "Dave's World," "Too Close For Comfort" and "Laverne and Shirley." Noone hosted four years of VH1's show "My Generation" and was selected by VH1 as their viewer's choice "Sexiest Artist of the Year" in 2001.
