Reptowski, Harper deny Rock Valley

With about two weeks remaining in the women's soccer regular season, about only one thing is certain: College of DuPage has secured the top seed in the NJCAA Division III, Region IV tournament.

The rest of the postseason seedings still need to be worked out, and Wednesday's game between visiting Rock Valley and Harper was key to it.

The outcome was good news for the Hawks, who prevailed 4-1 and don't look much like a team that struggled early this season. Danielle Reptowski had a big say in the result, as her hat trick accounted for half Harper's scoring.

"The team looks so much different than they did (earlier) in the fall," said Harper coach Dwayne Cruz. "I felt we could have won 6-1."

For most of the first half, the teams took turns controlling the match's pace before the Golden Eagles gained an edge in possession in the latter portions of the period.

That went for naught went scored on a header Danielle Reptowski following a corner kick.

Harper kept the pressure up as Alyciah Gutierrez doubled the lead with a goal.

Rock Valley score on a penalty kick before Reptowski helped secure the win with the game's final two goals.

"None of it could have happened without everyone working hard," Reptowski said.

Harper improved to 6-6 overall and 4-3 in the North Central Community College Conference with the victory. The Hawks have three more N4C games remaining to close out the regular season before the Region IV tournament begins.
