Collecting coats for veterans

Mundelein High School and the Mundelein Police will hold their Stand Down event Friday, Oct. 16, at the home football game against the Libertyville Wildcats. Anyone, home fans or visitors, will gain free entrance to the 7:30 p.m. game with the donation of a new or gently used coat. The Mundelein Police Department will continue to collect coats in the days after the football game. Collected coats are sent to the Veterans' Clothing Closet and offered to veterans in need, as well as their families. Area law enforcement agencies and high schools have partnered with the Veterans' Assistance Commission to assist veterans in need. The partnership between Lake County high schools and law enforcement agencies has been ongoing since 2009.
