Lake County Sheriff's Office pulls a plane to help the Special Olympics

On Sept. 19, the Lake County Sheriff's Office participated in the Special Olympics Plane Pull event at O'Hare International Airport.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office Plane Pullers team worked together to pull an Airbus A300 Cargo Jet, weighing 180,000 pounds, a distance of 12 feet in 10.67 seconds.

The Sheriff's Office Plane Pullers raised $2,449 in donations for Special Olympics Illinois. Participants from the sheriff's office included sheriff's deputies, corrections officers, reserve deputies, and Explorers. This year marks the seventh consecutive year the Lake County Sheriff's Office has participated in the plane pull event.

Members of the Lake County Sheriff's Office personnel enthusiastically volunteer their time to participate in events which raise money for the Special Olympics. Lake County Sheriff's Deputy David McNichol has coordinated these efforts for years, which has resulted in raising tens of thousands of dollars for the Special Olympics.
