Arlington Heights Fire Department open house Oct. 10

The Arlington Heights Fire Department will host an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Fire Station One, 300 E. Sigwalt St., in the village's downtown.

The event recognizes Fire Prevention Week, which began Sunday and continues until Saturday. "Hear the Beep Where You Sleep" is this year's Fire Prevention Week campaign theme, which is designed to educate people about the need for smoke alarms in every bedroom.

The open house will include the Fire Safety Trailer, equipment and informational displays, demonstrations, tours of the fire station, and Sparky the Fire Dog. This is a chance for residents to get a close-up view of the work firefighters do, the equipment they use and the place they stay while on duty.

Parking is available at the nearby village garage.
