Trinity women's volleyball team partners with National Down Syndrome Society

Trinity International University's women's volleyball team is hosting a fundraiser and offering volunteer work in connection with National Down Syndrome Month in October.

The fundraiser, a silent auction, will begin prior to a match on the Deerfield campus with Lake Forest College on Oct. 13. The silent auction begins at 6:30 p.m., and the match starts at 7 p.m. Successful bids will be revealed between sets. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the National Down Syndrome Society.

A variety of donated goods and services will be available to bidders. Individuals and local businesses donated the items to the team.

In addition to hosting the silent auction, individual members of the women's volleyball team will assist as volunteers at a charity known as GiGi's Playhouse, where they will help with the annual GiGi Fest Family Fun Event in Hoffman Estates on Oct. 18.

According to the organization's website, GiGi's Playhouse offers educational and therapeutic programs to families affected by Down syndrome in Chicago and 23 other locations within the United States and Mexico.

The silent auction and volleyball match will be hosted in Van Dixhorn Arena, within the Meyer Sports Complex, on the south end of Trinity's campus at 2065 Half Day Rd. in Deerfield.
