District 54 offers Community Resources Centers for early childhood
Do you have a child between the ages of 0 and 5 years living in School District 54? Are you looking for a free, creative, learning environment where you and your child can spend quality time? The District 54 Community Resource Centers are a place where caregivers and their children can come together and experience group activities that include hands-on play, art, literacy, music and so much more. Some examples of previously run groups include the following:
• Tiny Tykes for caregivers and children ages 0-3,
• Music, Movement and Literacy,
• Parent Support Group,
• ESL classes and
• Computer Classes
The programs focus on parent-child interaction so parents are required to stay with their children during center time. When it says "Open Center," you may come at any time during those two hours. It is open play with any of our toys for the first hour and a half, followed by story time, music and movement in the last half hour. This opportunity provides children with social experiences in addition to being introduced to circle time with group instruction.
The Resource Centers are located at the following locations.
• Keller Junior High School, 820 Bode Road, Schaumburg
• Hoffman Estates Police Department, 411 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates
• Woodfield Crossing, 4710 Arbor Drive, Apt. 101, Rolling Meadows
• Hanover Park Branch Library, 1266 Irving Park Road, Hanover Park
• Hoffman Estates Village Hall, 1900 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates
