Glen Ellyn Historical Society Behind the Scenes Tour Sat. Oct. 10

The Glen Ellyn Historical Society is participating in this year's Chicago Open Archives program. Chicago Open Archives: Collecting and Connecting, is an opportunity to discover unique historical materials and engage with archivists, librarians, and museum curators. A free Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the archives at Glen Ellyn Historical Society will be conducted on Saturday afternoon, October 10th beginning at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. at the Glen Ellyn History Center, 800 N. Main St. Glen Ellyn.

Learn about collections dating back to the Village of Glen Ellyn's founding, conservation efforts, and the digitization of 115 years of local newspapers. See the Indus Book Scanner 9000 that can scan items up to 18 inches by 28 inches. Then, if time allows, join a docent-led tour of Stacy's Tavern Museum, an award-winning restoration of an 1840's stagecoach inn. This is a free tour, open to anyone interested in learning more about the archives of the Glen Ellyn Historical Society. No pre-registration necessary.
