Race distance: 400 miles, 400 laps.

Last year: Jeff Gordon raced to his fourth 2014 victory and the last of 92 career wins. He's retiring at the end of the season.

Last week: Matt Kenseth won at New Hampshire to earn a spot in the second round of the Chase. He took the lead after leader Kevin Harvick ran out of gas.

Fast facts: The race is the third in the 10-race Chase for the Sprint Cup. The 16-man Chase field will be cut to 12 after the event, to eight after the sixth race and to four after the ninth. Points will be reset after each round and the championship will be decided by finishing order in the Nov. 22 finale at Homestead. Kenseth and Chicagoland winner Denny Hamlin have locked up spots in the second round. The winner Sunday will get a spot and the other nine positions will be determined by the standings. Kenseth leads the standings, six points ahead of Hamlin. Carl Edwards and Joey Logano are 10 points behind Kenseth, followed by Jimmie Johnson (-16), Ryan Newman (-25), Kurt Busch (-26), Brad Keselowski (-27), Martin Truex Jr. (-28), Gordon (-31), Jamie McMurray (-41), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (-42), Kyle Busch (-43), Paul Menard (-43), defending champion Harvick (-65) and Clint Bowyer (-81). ... Johnson won the May race at Dover to become the fifth driver with 10 or more Sprint Cup victories at a track.

Fast facts: Busch is making his 10th start of the season in Joe Gibbs Racing's No. 54 Toyota. The five-time Dover winner has four victories this year and a series-record 74 overall. Fellow Sprint Cup driver Denny Hamlin is driving JGR's No. 20 car. He has three victories in 10 starts this season. ... Chris Buescher leads the standings, 19 points ahead of Ty Dillon and 25 in front of defending champion Chase Elliott. Buescher won the May race at the track.

Last week: Antron Brown won the Midwest Nationals at Gateway for his second straight Countdown victory and sixth of the season. Del Worsham topped the Funny Car field for his second Countdown victory, Drew Skillman won in Pro Stock, and Hector Arana Jr. in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

Fast facts: The event is the third in the six-race Countdown playoffs. The top 10 in each class qualified for the playoffs. Brown leads the Top Fuel standings, 77 points ahead of Schumacher. Worsham has a 90-point lead over Hagan in Funny Car. Erica Enders tops the Pro Stock standings and Greg Anderson leads in Pro Stock Motorcycle in their season title defenses.
