Police: 2 dead, 3, including baby, hurt in Chicago shooting

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago police say two women were killed and three other people, including an 11-month-old, were injured in a drive-by shooting on the city's southwest side.

Deputy Chief Eugene Roy says the "innocent" group was returning from a family outing late Monday when the shooting occurred. He said the women killed were the mother and grandmother of the wounded infant.

Roy says the five were exiting a vehicle when shots were fired from another vehicle. The two women were taken to Stroger Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Roy says the infant, also taken to the hospital, is in stable condition with injuries that aren't life-threatening.

The relationship between the two male victims and the others wasn't immediately clear. Roy says one was in critical condition at Mt. Sinai Hospital, and other suffered injuries that aren't life-threatening.
