Edwards tops speed chart during practice at New Hampshire

LOUDON, N.H. (AP) - Carl Edwards was fastest in the lone practice session Friday for the second race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship.

Chase drivers took the top three spots and eight of the top 10 in the first practice for the race Sunday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Edwards' lap of 136.894 mph topped the chart. He was followed by Jimmie Johnson and Brad Keselowski. Kurt Busch was fifth-fastest, followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jamie McMurray and Jeff Gordon. Matt Kenseth was 10th.

Kevin Harvick's bid to repeat as series champion took a hit last week at Chicagoland when a blown tire led to a 42nd-place finish. He was 11th in practice Friday.
