Vandals strike Metea Valley, Longwood schools

Metea Valley High School and Longwood Elementary School have been hit by vandalism in recent days, authorities said.

The schools were damaged with spray paint sometime between 7 p.m. Tuesday and 7 a.m. Wednesday, Aurora police said.

Metea's property at 1801 N. Eola Road in Aurora suffered roughly $4,000 in damage when two parked vehicles and several areas of sidewalk and fencing were spray-painted, authorities said.

Damage reported at nearby Longwood Elementary at 30W240 Bruce Lane in an unincorporated area near Naperville included spray paint on two windows, a screen and a brick near the front door. A window also was broken, Indian Prairie Unit District 204 spokeswoman Janet Buglio said.

Damage at both schools has been repaired, Buglio said, as Aurora police and the DuPage County sheriff's office investigate the vandalism.

A house on the 3100 block of Bennett Place, which is about one block south of Metea Valley High School, also reported graffiti damage between 8:30 and 9:20 p.m. Tuesday. Aurora police said the paint used on the house appeared to be the same color as that sprayed onto the cars and sidewalk at the nearby school. Buglio said she did not know the color of the paint, which has been removed.
