Stevenson wins Maine East invite

Isabella Milejczyk and Jori Radtke slammed 8 and 7 kills, respectively, Chloe Robinson served 4 aces, and Stevenson's girls volleyball team topped Warren 25-17, 25-16 to capture the championship of the Maine East invite Saturday.

Radtke's 51 kills led the way, as Stevenson (18-4) finished 5-0 over the two days. The Patriots beat Maine South 25-18, 25-19 in their first match Saturday, receiving 12 kills from Radtke and 4 aces from Corissa Kurth.

On Friday, Radtke had 16 kills and Morgan Berland racked up 21 digs in a 25-21, 25-21 victory over Maine East, before Stevenson knocked off Regina (25-21, 25-20) and Lake Forest (25-18, 18-25, 15-5). Radtke had 9 kills, Kurth lofted 24 assists and Berland chalked up 18 digs in the win over Lake Forest.

Warren went 3-2 in the tourney, beating Niles West 25-21, 25-18 Saturday to advance to the championship match. The Blue Devils beat Addison Trail and Maine West, while losing to De La Salle, on Friday.

Jenna Walczak led Warren in its five matches with 43 kills, 26 digs and 5 blocks. The Blue Devils' other top performers included Nicole Berzin (45 assists, 23 digs), Kim Hengesh (16 kills, 33 digs, 122 blocks), Claire Lundtveit (14 kills, 12 blocks, 21 digs) and Natalie McNally (15 kills, 21 digs).

Lakes wins at Kenosha Tremper: After a loss in pool play to Tremper (ranked top 15 in Wisconsin), Lakes battled the Kenosha school again in the championship bracket and earned redemption with a 22-25, 25-16, 15-12 win to capture the invite championship.

Megan Behrendt had 44 kills and 51 digs, as Lakes (18-4) went 4-1 in the tournament. McKenna Lahr posted 36 kills and 49 digs for the Eagles. Lakes also received contributions from Izzy Huntington (25 kills, 26 digs), Katie Billetdeaux (16 kills, 3 blocks), Maddie Demo (11 aces, 101 assists), Katie Demo (32 assists), Paige Bartlett (58 digs), Kaylee Lebron (3 kills), Keelan Bell (3 kills) and Toyin Jackson (10 digs).

Wauconda wins own invite: LeAnne Sakowicz had 29 kills and 25 assists, and the Bulldogs won their own invite with a 5-0 record.

Wauconda (17-3) earned two-set victories over Round Lake, North Chicago, Morton, Marengo and Lake Forest Academy. Sara Sexton had 27 kills in the tourney, while Aimee Berg and Jane Sakowicz each served 10 aces. Ashley Anderson chalked up 29 digs, and Catie Petralia contributed 28 assists and 8 aces. Haley Meyer chipped in 9 kills, 7 blocks and 7 aces.

Carmel second at St. Viator: Carmel lost to Timothy Christian 25-22, 25-9 in the championship match.

Carmel (3-5) won its first four matches, as the Corsairs defeated Queen of Peace, Proviso East, Elk Grove and Keith Country Day all in two sets.
