Share in the passionate journey of an Arlington Heights musician

Get to know your neighbors through the Arlington Heights Memorial Library's Share Your Story project, an online collection of photographs, personal essays and audio recordings about cultural heritage and immigration as told by Arlington Heights residents. In "The Strings That Bind Us," Arlington Heights musician Edgar Huerta writes about his family's journey and love of guitar music. Read Edgar's story: www.ahml.info/onebook/share

Then share one of your own. Here's how:

Share Your Story: Drop-In Recording Sessions

Tell your story as an audio recording. Work one-one-one with library staff and use the Studio's audio recording tools to share your story. We'll use a StoryCorps-style interview method to guide your storytelling and record it to preserve for future generations. Recording sessions typically take about 20 minutes.

Some stories collected during drop-ins may be added to our Share Your Story blog or featured in the upcoming Our Stories exhibit which will be displayed in the Marketplace September-November. Please note: a professional photographer will be taking photographs at the recording sessions in preparation for the Our Stories exhibit. Participants will also receive a copy of their photos and audio recording.

Dates and times: Wednesday, September 16, 2-4 p.m.

Monday, September 21, 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday, September 23, 2-4 p.m.

Location: The Studio, Arlington Heights Memorial Library
