Boys soccer: Elgin, Dundee-Crown notch wins

Elgin 7, Woodstock 0: The Maroons downed the Blue Streaks in nonconference action at Memorial Field, improving to 7-2-1 overall. Jonathan Ramirez led Elgin with 2 goals and 1 assist while Danny Geary also scored twice. Pedro Hernandez and Manuel Ramirez both had 1 goal and 1 assist while Juan Aguilar added the other boot. Daniel Zavala had 1 assist and Edgar Rodriguez nailed down 7 saves for the shutout.

Dundee-Crown 3, Larkin 2: The Chargers improved to 7-1-1 with a win over the Royals, a team that's bounced D-C out of the playoffs the last 2 postseasons. Daniel Maldonado, Freddy Martinez and Julian Ajroja all scored unassisted goals while Luis Cruz collected 8 saves.

Hampshire 3, Sycamore 1: The Whip-Purs cruised to a nonconference victory over the Spartans with all 3 goals in the first half. Jose Cruz, who tallied a goal and an assist, led the way while Michael Boutin and Darien James added goals. Colin Gent and Weston Eaton tossed 1 assist each and goalie Jason Polletta posted 2 saves.

St. Edward 2, Lisle 2: AJ Franklin notched both goals for the Green Wave (0-3-3) in a nonconference tie. Alex Semler and Will Gaston added assists and Eric Parks made 6 saves.

ACC 4, Indian Creek 2: Kyle Czerak scored twice and had an assist to lead the Chargers (4-3-1) to a nonconference win. Brett Czerak and George Yamez each added a goal for ACC and Erik Sanchez had 11 saves in goal.

Lockport 1, Streamwood 0 (PK): The Porters were able to lockdown a PepsiCo Showdown victory in shootout-fashion, edging the Sabres (4-3-2) 4-2. Edwin Rueda and Aldo Lazara notched penalty kicks and keeper Daniel Dominguez provided 4 saves.

Wheeling 5, Jacobs 1: The streak is over as the Golden Eagles (6-1) recorded their first loss of the season in nonconference action. Colin Walsh scored on a feed from Noah Melick in the 38th minute, but keeper Ethan Pickering was peppered and came up with only 2 saves.

Lyons 3, Burlington Central 1: In their PepsiCo Showdown debut, the Rockets (4-2-1) were beat with 3 goals by the Lions in the second half. Victor Rodriguez scored on assist by Jack Schramme and keeper Ryan Fitzgerald 12 saves in net.

West Chicago 1, Huntley 0: The Red Raiders (5-1-1) also suffered defeat at the PepsiCo Showdown. Michael Parks tallied 7 saves in net for Huntley.

Rolling Meadows 1, CL South 0: Spencer Traub had 5 saves in net but the Gators (4-2-3) fell to the Mustangs in nonconference action.
