Girls volleyball: St. Edward outlasts IC Catholic
St. Edward d. IC Catholic Prep: The Green Wave won a tight 27-25, 23-25, 25-22 Metro Suburban match to improve to 7-3, 2-1. Dominique Washington put away 28 kills. Megan Barth added 9 kills and Samantha Boydston 6. Gabriella Tripicchio set 38 assists, and Barth and Washington both had 18 digs.
Dundee-Crown d. McHenry: The Chargers (8-2, 2-0) continued their strong start with a 25-20, 25-13 win at home. Gina Pagano led a balanced attack with 6 kills, Frankie Cavallaro had 4 and Emma Brant 3. Frankie Cavallaro set 9 assists and Ali Buckley 8. Ali Buckley led in digs with 7; Pagano served 3 aces.
Burlington Central d. North Boone: The Rockets (6-2, 2-0) rolled to the 25-9, 25-20 Big Northern East win behind Leah Murphy's 10 kills, 7 digs and 5 aces. Rachel Gaydos had 9 digs, Alexis VanHiel 5 kills and Gabriela Soto 7 assists.
Naperville North d. Batavia: The Bulldogs (5-5) lost the nonconference match 25-21, 25-21. Katelynn Fegan (14 digs), Sam Juarez (7 digs, 1 ace), Jenna Garrett (7 assists, 6 digs), Sydney Cavanaugh (6 kills) and Maddy Astling (5 kills) led Batavia.
Sycamore d. South Elgin: The Storm (4-5) dropped a nonconference match despite 7 kills from Rachel Priore, Hayley Fisher's 3 blocks, and 2 aces each for Casie Swanson and Sarah Murray. Priore also had 5 digs.
Prairie Ridge d. Hampshire: Olivia Magnussen and Stef Puczek both had 2 kills for Hampshire in a 25-12, 25-11 loss.
