Girls volleyball: Dundee-Crown, Batavia earn wins
Dundee-Crown d. Grayslake Central: Bre Novak and Ashley Raby had 7 kills each as Dundee-Crown won 25-11, 25-18 in a Fox Valley Conference girls volleyball crossover match Wednesday night. Gina Pagano added 5 kills for the Chargers (2-0) and Frankie Cavallaro had 12 assists. Zoe Sitarz added 5 digs.
Addison Trail d. Elgin: Emily Huprich had 3 aces, 2 digs, 6 assists, 2 kills and 4 blocks to lead Elgin (2-6) in a 25-12, 24-26, 25-16 nonconference loss. Emma Siridge added 3 digs and 4 kills for the Maroons.
Bartlett d. Hoffman Estates: Megan Regan had 5 kills with Suzi Arns and Kelly Harris adding 4 each to lead the Hawks (3-1) to a 25-9, 25-13 nonconference win. Andie Sobotka had 11 digs and Almira Khan added 13 assists for Bartlett.
Batavia d. Glenbard South: The Bulldogs came from behind for a wild 14-25, 28-26, 26-24 victory in Glen Ellyn. Batavia trailed 26-25 in the second set and scored the final three points to win. Batavia again fell behind late in the third set, 21-18 and 24-22. The Bulldogs scored the final four points, finishing the match with a block by Micaela Hix and Maddy Astling on the Raiders' middle. Astling led Batavia with 12 kills, 6 digs and 2 blocks. Jenna Garrett 12 set assists, Hix had 2 blocks and Katelynn Fegan 9 digs.
West Aurora d. Oswego East: The Blackhawks improved to 4-3 with a nonconference win. Jordyn Poppen served 5 aces and had 4 kills, second on the team to Gillian Jones' 11 kills. Christna Stinson and Kayla Battle both had 3. Ali Greenwood and Jones both finished with 6 kills, Kelly Townsend set 11 assists and Natalie Jones had 10.
