The high cost of not overriding veto
state Rep. Jack Franks, a Marengo Democrat, in one sentence put into perspective why the Democrats under Speaker Madigan's "leadership" have caused Illinois to fall into the fiscal abyss.
When asked whether he would vote to overturn Gov. Rauner's veto of legislation that would outlaw a strike by SEIU for four years, Mr. Franks stated, "he doesn't believe an override would cost the state as much as Rauner claims it will."
Cost as much? Any cost, in a state that is bankrupt is too much. Instead of voting to send the state's public union contract to arbitration, our representatives should be holding the line on any increases for anything.
Only in the world of Madigan and his minions is it acceptable to sweeten, in any way shape or form, a union contract. After all, while it will cost more, it just won't "cost as much."
