Dash at Dusk 5K offers runners an evening race with an after party

Runners of all ages may partake in a 5K race hosted at dusk by the Schaumburg Park District. The Dash at Dusk 5K begins at 5 p.m., Oct. 17 at Olympic Park, 1675 E. Old Schaumburg Road.

Runners will finish at night with an after party shortly following the race.

"This event is meant to be a fun, unique 5K race because of the time it's being held," said Alyssa Danca, fitness supervisor to the Schaumburg Park District. "Traditionally, 5Ks are in the morning."

Post-race festivities include fresh-grilled brats and refreshments along with live music and an award ceremony for the top three finishers within each age group. Vegetarian options will also be available.

"I'm excited for this event because participants will experience a new course at a venue the District hasn't used for a race," Danca said.

Registration is available at www.active.com. Registration is $25 until Aug. 31, $30 through Oct. 14 and $35 the day of the event. Registration includes a technical T-shirt and meal ticket.
