Violinist will perform at Methodist church in Aurora

On Sunday, Aug. 30, acclaimed violinist Jaime Jorge will perform at 10 a.m. at Fourth Street United Methodist Church, 551 S. Fourth St. in Aurora.

The public is invited. Admission is free. A freewill offering will be taken.

Jorge's second annual Aurora concert is co-sponsored by Fourth Street UMC and New Hope Lutheran/Iglesia Luterana Nueva Esperanza, which share worship space with Fourth Street UMC. Jorge first performed at Fourth Street UMC in September 2014.

Jorge's forceful, expressive mastery of the violin has delighted audiences around the globe.

He has dedicated his talents to sharing the love of God through sacred and classical concerts and special appearances the world over.

From high school auditoriums to magnificent cathedrals, from simple church programs to Carnegie Hall, Jorge's music inspires, uplifts, and brings peace.

For more than two decades, through 15 albums and more than 2,500 concerts in North and South America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, Jorge's music has touched the lives of millions.

Born in Cuba in 1970, Jaime began violin studies at age 5.

When he was 10, Jaime's family immigrated to the United States and he began lessons with the eminent violinist Cyrus Forough, a student of the great David Oistrakh.

Jorge's mother wanted him to be a violinist, but he dreamed of becoming a missionary doctor.

When he entered the University of Illinois in 1988, he began to take all the pre-med courses for preparation to attend medical school.

In 1992, Jorge was accepted into the University of Illinois Medical School.

In his second year of medical school, Jorge felt called to begin a life of service dedicated to music ministry.
