Officials: Man killed in Wauconda robbery carrying BB gun

The would-be robber who was shot four times and killed by a clerk in a Wauconda convenience store was identified as an Ingleside man who was carrying a BB gun, authorities said. They say Justin Greenenwald was wearing a mask when he entered the Kwick Shop Sunday night, pointed a handgun at a customer and clerk, then demanded money. Full story.

Pedestrian killed by train in Mt. Prospect

A Metra train running an express route struck and killed a pedestrian Tuesday night in downtown Mount Prospect, authorities said. The train, which was scheduled to make its next stop in Arlington Heights, struck the unidentified person near the Mount Prospect station at 6:30 p.m. Full story.

DuPage may discuss using bailiffs for court security to save money

In search of a cheaper way to secure the DuPage County courthouse, county board members are exploring ways to have personnel other than sheriff's deputies provide court security. Algonquin man accused of sex toy attack at haunted house gets probation, fine

A 24-year-old man accused of dressing as a clown and using sex toys to harass and attack a woman and her daughter at a Montgomery-area haunted house recently received a year of supervision and a $500 fine after pleading guilty. Robert S. Keller, of Algonquin, also must perform 30 hours of community service at a nonprofit agency and have no contact with the victims, according to court records. Full story.

Addison man testifies about vicious attack, says it was over $50 debt

An Addison man testified Tuesday how a torturous beating inflicted on him three years ago left him fearing for his life and permanently disfigured. All for fifty dollars. Prosecutors said an ex-girlfriend's debt sparked the severe beating of 45-year-old Steven Stanley at the hands of 35-year-old Runaldo Ramsey of Chicago. Full story.

Chicago Bears' Goldman needs to be fast learner

The Bears are looking to rookie Eddie Goldman to fill the void left by the absence of four-time Pro Bowl nose tackle Jeremiah Ratliff, who will miss the first three games of the season as punishment for a 2013 DUI conviction.
