Naperville fire damages house, injures one

One person was treated for minor injuries sustained in a fire Thursday afternoon at a house on the 1000 block of North Charles Street in Naperville, firefighters said.

The fire was sparked by the careless use of a torch by workers at the house, authorities said, and caused moderate damage. City officials said the house is uninhabitable.

The homeowner called 911 at 12:15 p.m. and roughly 25 firefighters responded, authorities said. The first unit arrived about two minutes later and found the fire burning in the ceiling of the home's lower level.

Firefighters said they brought the fire under control within 15 minutes and prevented it from spreading to other portions of the house.
