Wheeling approves 12 luxury townhouses at Northgate Crossing

A second phase of construction for Wheeling's Northgate Crossing apartment complex, this one for 12 luxury townhouse rental units, has been approved by the village board.

They are expected to rent for $2,400-$3,000 per month.

The 12 townhouses will bring the Northgate Crossing total to 300 units. The developer, REVA Development Partners, has already begun work on 288 apartments on 20 acres near Dundee Road and Northgate Parkway.

REVA Development Principal Matt Nix said rental townhouses are gaining traction in the housing market, and he expects the 3-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom townhouses will appeal to young families and empty nesters.

Residents of the townhouses will have access to the amenities offered to the 288 apartment units, Nix said, which include a 7,000-square-foot clubhouse with a fitness center, game room and club room that is expected to open in October.

REVA also has planned an outdoor swimming pool, dog park and walking paths.

"We think this will really blend in nicely with the Northgate units we already have," Nix said.

Construction of the townhouses is scheduled to begin this year, and Nix says he expects all 12 to be completed by late next year.

Each townhouse will be 2½ stories high and have its own two-car garage.

Nix said the Wheeling townhouses will have a mixed exterior of brick and siding, and will be similar to those REVA developed at The Oaks of Vernon Hills.
