Elgin golf outing, Team Carone fundraiser slated

The Eighth Annual Elgin High School golf outing will be held Saturday, Aug. 29 at Bartlett Hills Golf Course.

Registration for the 18-hole scramble will be at 1 p.m. with a shotgun start at 2 p.m.

A tax deductible donation of $100 per player will help support the boys basketball program at Elgin High. Hole sponsorships are also available and there will be free food, a cash bar and raffle prizes after the golf outing in the Bartlett Hills clubhouse and banquet room.

Team Carone fundraiser: The Third Annual Shutdown Cancer Music Fest will be held Sept. 26 at the Wegner Ranch in McHenry. The event is put on by the Team Carone Foundation, which supports former Cary-Grove football and baseball standout Rick Carone, 44, who was diagnosed with Stage IV pancreatic cancer in 2013. The event, which begins at 3 p.m., also benefits local charities and families, scholarships and enhancements for Cary-Grove High School.
