Didn't negotiate from strength

If this administration was serious about negotiating from a position of strength with Iran and its nuclear intentions, then it certainly would have made sense to maintain our ground forces and land bases in both Iraq and Afghanistan until those negotiations were completed.

Geographically speaking, having land-based U.S. forces on both sides of Iran would have given our negotiations a great deal of gravitas. As it played out, these forces were ordered to bug out, thus giving the Iranian negotiators a great sigh of relief and greatly reduced our leverage.

The big question is, why? Why in your right mind would you abandon such an advantageous bargaining position before you had a chance to use it?

It's almost like not providing our NATO allies with promised missile defense systems or not ordering routine NATO military maneuvers the very second Russia made a move on Ukraine.

I don't want these people haggling with the car salesman.
