Park on Park in Mundelein draws more than 500 vintage vehicles

About 560 vintage cars made their way to downtown Mundelein Wednesday night for the monthly Park on Park cruise night at the corner of Park Street and Seymour Avenue.

This is the 15th season of Park on Park. The event is sponsored by On The Road Classics & Mundelein Community Connection.

By limiting participants to classic cars, the event draws some of the finest vehicles in the area, organizers say.

"When we first did this in 2000 we had about 75 cars show up," said Park on Park organizer Tony Christie.

"We went from 75 to 175 to 250 to, on a nice night, 500 cars," he said as he had to turn away cars Wednesday.

"Nostalgia has come back in a really big way. A lot of people have cars in the area. The Midwest is like a hotbed. It's kind of amazing. It's neat that there's so much activity in the area."

The show filled Park Street and stretched down Seymour Avenue between Hawley Road and Route 176 to accommodate all the cars.
