MAC opens season with Motown, Jim Belushi

The College of DuPage Foundation will open the McAninch Arts Center 2015-2016 season by presenting "MAC Motown: Signed, Sealed, Delivered" at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12.

The fundraising event features The Motown Experience in concert with New Philharmonic. College of DuPage alumni Jim Belushi will join the festivities for the official dedication of the Belushi Performance Hall.

VIP tickets are $125 and include a preshow party, meet-and-greet, concert, Belushi Performance Hall Dedication and post-show toast. General tickets are $65 and include the concert and post-show toast.

Proceeds will go to the MAC General Fund, New Philharmonic and Belushi Artists-in-Residence Fund.

"It's a fantastic way to launch the McAninch Arts Center's season as well as generate support for the arts," COD Foundation President Susan Lang Berry said.

The Motown Experience, which consists of vocalists from such legendary groups as The Miracles and The Temptations, consists of the music, style, dance and clothes that distinguished Motown artists from the rest and includes songs made famous by such recording acts as The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder.

New Philharmonic was founded in 1977 when College of DuPage began sponsoring resident professional arts organizations. Under the direction of Music Director and Conductor Kirk Muspratt, the orchestra performs innovative renditions of classic and modern works and is the only professional orchestra based in DuPage County.

The College of DuPage Foundation, established in 1967, provides for the educational development and welfare of the college and its students. Its mission is to obtain and steward philanthropic contributions to expand educational and cultural opportunities for the College of DuPage community.
