Rosemont dome repairs could take months
It might be months before repairs are made to Rosemont's indoor softball dome, which collapsed in Sunday's heavy winds, authorities said Monday.
Village officials believe it was a microburst that hit Rosemont at 2:40 p.m. Sunday and brought down the plastic air-suspended roof, which covers the 140,000-square-foot indoor sports venue.
On Monday, an insurance adjuster and the manufacturer of the dome evaluated the damage. Mayor Brad Stephens said it would be several days before a plan is agreed on.
After that it will take another few months before repairs are completed. No one was injured in the dome collapse, although a youth softball clinic had let out less than an hour before the storm.
