Summer meal program worthwhile

Feeding hungry children is good. Elgin school district is doing just that with their summer meal program.

It's not so healthy to "alleviate parental concern about feeding their children," as the CEO of the district said (July 22).

Food, shelter, safety. Shouldn't those basic needs be of primary concern to parents and prospective parents, however unpalatable a responsibility it may seem to some who've made the decision to have children they cannot afford to feed?

Just some food for thought.
