Bond $250,000 for Antioch man accused of forcing woman into vehicle
Bond was set at $250,000 in Lake County court Saturday for an Antioch man who is facing several charges after police say he forced a woman into his vehicle and threatened her with a hammer.
George Bojszuk, 46, of the 41000 block of North Circle Drive, is charged with unlawful restraint, aggravated assault and domestic battery, as well as possession of a controlled substance, according to a news release from the Lake County sheriff's office. His next court date is Aug. 12.
Officials said Bojszuk went to the woman's Antioch home early Friday morning and woke her up, then threatened her with a hammer and forced her into his car to go to Canada. When he stopped for gas at the Lake Forest Oasis on I-94, the woman was able to let a worker know she was being held against her will and to call police, according to the release.
Bojszuk left the oasis with the woman before Illinois State Police could arrive, but officers were able to pull him over on I-94 south of the oasis, take him into custody and rescue the woman, police said.
Both Bojszuk and the woman were taken to the Lake County sheriff's office, and while there, deputies found Bojszuk had PCP, the release said. Bojszuk, who is being held at the Lake County jail to await a bond hearing, also has been charged with a DUI probation violation out of Wisconsin, police said. There is no bond on the warrant, police said.
