Teens charged in Aurora burglaries

Three Aurora teens are facing numerous vehicle and residential burglary-related charges in Kane County.

The three boys have been charged as juveniles. Two are 15 and the other is 17. All three are being held in the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center in St. Charles.

Police said the three became suspects in the burglaries when one of the 15-year-olds and the 17-year-old were apprehended June 29 when police responded to a call for gunshots near Galena Boulevard and Harrison Avenue. Police said the teens were in possession of a gun that was previously reported stolen in a June 25 residential burglary on the 2300 block of Goldenrod Court.

Police then searched the bedroom of the 17-year- old and found numerous items that were reported stolen in vehicle burglaries that occurred in and around the Golden Oaks subdivision between June 13 and 15 as well as items from a June 29 home burglary on the 200 block of North Buell Avenue.

The other 15-year-old was taken into custody July 15 after he allegedly shot two of his friends by accident at a home on the 500 block of Howard Street.

All three teens have been charged with residential burglary in connection with the burglary on Goldenrod Court. In addition, one of the 15-year-olds has been charged with five counts of burglary to a motor vehicle for the Golden Oaks cases while the 17-year-old has been charged with possession of stolen property in connection to the vehicle burglaries and the home burglary on North Buell.

Police said the investigation into all of the cases is continuing and further charges have not been ruled out.
