Grayslake mosquito spraying

In response to higher than normal mosquito levels this summer as a result of above average rainfall, the village of Grayslake has authorized two additional communitywide adult mosquito sprays this season. The first was July 23, and the second will be sometime in August, when needed. The village also urged residents to take preventive measures to reduce mosquitoes on their property. Steps include: minimize standing water that serves as breeding sites; trim shrubs, lawns, and weeds to eliminate hiding places for adult mosquitoes; fill in or drain low spots in yards; clean and maintain gutters and downspouts; empty and clean bird baths and small wading pools weekly; engage services of mosquito control specialists.
