Hanover Park adopts medication disposal program

Hanover Park residents can now get rid of unwanted medications at the police department through a program the village says will help promote safety in the community.

Administered by the DuPage County Health Department, the program allows residents to properly dispose of prescription and over-the-counter medications, as well as medicated ointments and liquid medications. Over-the-counter inhalers and medicated shampoos also are accepted.

The program's drop-off container, RxBox, is located in the Hanover Park Police Department's front lobby, and is open 24 hours a days, seven days a week.

The village says the RxBox program could aid in curbing prescription drug abuse and help protect the community's water supply.
