Ramp shut down after rollover crash in Itasca

One man was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash on a ramp in Itasca Sunday, police said.

An SUV rolled over on the ramp from westbound I-290 to Thorndale Avenue at 3:17 p.m., said Master Sgt. Amy Pelletier, of the Illinois State Police.

The ramp was shut down after the accident and remained closed as of 9 p.m. Sunday because of damage to the guardrail, she said, though it was expected to reopen Sunday night.

The man, whose identity was not released, was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove in a helicopter, Pelletier said, and the extent of his injuries are unknown.

Illinois State Police are investigating the accident.
