No further investigation into fire at Arlington Park
Arlington Heights fire officials said there will be no further investigation of the trailer fire that caused a brief disruption to the fireworks Saturday night at Arlington Park.
Firefighters said it appears that some garbage in the enclosed trailer caught fire and that fireworks may have been in contact with the contents.
But firefighters determined that the fire, which did not result in injuries or significant damages, did not warrant further investigation.
Arlington Heights Fire Department Battalion Chief Bill Essling told the Daily Herald Saturday that the fire was quickly extinguished. He said it was unclear if the fire was caused by the fireworks.
The park sent out a message on Twitter at 10:16 p.m. that read, "Our fireworks show will resume shortly. Thank you for your patience as we work to provide a safe yet spectacular experience for everyone."
Essling said the fireworks were paused as a safety measure.
"They had to stop the fireworks before the first engine could go out on the track," he said.
