Rewards for car buyers

Customers who buy or lease new vehicles from any of a dozen dealerships in Libertyville will received certificates good at participating village businesses. The promotion offers $200 to residents and $100 to nonresidents, with the dealerships also contributing $100 to charity for each purchase or lease. The village has budgeted $70,000 for the gift certificates and the dealers could contribute up to $36,000 to charity for the event, which runs through July 31. Auto-related businesses represent about 60 percent of all sales tax received by the village and employ nearly 800 people. The promotion is limited to the first 30 buyers/lessees at each dealership.
