Bulls reach agreement with Dunleavy

The Bulls reached an agreement to bring back forward Mike Dunleavy early Wednesday. The sides reportedly agreed to a three-year deal worth roughly $14 million.

Dunleavy averaged 9.4 points last season and shot 40.7 percent from 3-point range. During the playoffs, his 3-point percentage soared to .482.

The 6-foot-9 Dunleavy's greatest strength is being a smart, steady veteran who knows how to play the game. His value was most apparent last season when he missed several weeks with an ankle injury and the Bulls went 9-10 in his absence.

Even though the Bulls already have their small forward of the future on the roster in Doug McDermott, they made it a priority to bring back Dunleavy. There were reports this week that Cleveland had interest in signing Dunleavy at the request of LeBron James.

When he joined the Bulls as a free agent in 2013, Dunleavy, 34, was a relative bargain, signing a two-year deal worth $6 million.
