More than 40,000 rib fans are expected to nibble bones at this year's Windy City Ribfest. The goods are prepared by barbecue professionals from Arkansas to Australia who are not only vying for your salivary attention but want to win the Best Ribs award. Kids can enjoy their own play area and arts and crafts during the day. Adults will go for live music by tribute and indie bands in between sips of beer and wine. Combine a summer getaway with teachable moments perfect for middle schoolers and older kids via The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield, Illinois. The museum offers a new way to explore the historic capitol and learn about the unlikely romance between Abraham Lincoln and Mary Todd with the "Abe and Mary: Quite Contrary" walking tour. It takes you through downtown Springfield, past the spots where young lawyer Abe and Southern belle Mary fell in love, where they broke up but reunited and married, and where they lived until leaving for Washington.
