Libertyville farmers market opens

Downtown Libertyville was bustling with activity Thursday during opening day of this summer's annual farmers market.

This is the 35th year for the farmers market put on by MainStreet Libertyville, and Church Street was lined with 33 vendors. The offerings included many regional farms and merchants selling items ranging from olives to dog biscuits.

"It's our favorite farmers market. We just love the atmosphere," said Tori Springer, who along with her sister, Kirsten, made the trip from Antioch. "If we can, we will drive down here every Thursday. We love it."

The farmers market will continue every Thursday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. 22.
