Berry-laden pie a patriotic treat for holiday weekend

It's that time of year to pull out all your patriotic recipes, and this Very Berry Pie fits the bill. You can use fresh or frozen fruit, whichever you choose. That makes this recipe easy to throw together — no matter where you find yourself this Fourth of July.

I love to get playful with cutouts for the top of this pie, but you can go traditional with a full crust and a few vents to allow steam to escape. Either way, the yummy fruit filling and flaky crust are a tasty treat for everyone. The aroma that will fill your kitchen will lure one and all to your table.

I often buy extra-large bags of mixed frozen fruit at my warehouse store for smoothies, and this fruit mix also makes a wonderful pie when fresh berries are hard to find.
