Trial for teacher continued

The trial for one of three former Gavin Elementary District 37 teachers facing misdemeanor charges of not reporting the sexual assault of a student has been continued until July 21, officials said Friday. Michael Lanners, 38, of Lake Villa, was charged in November with not reporting the information as required by law. April Courtney, 34, of Wauconda, John Keehan, 40, of Elgin, and Lanners are former District 37 teachers with Michael Vucic, 41, of Lake Forest. Vucic is in Lake County jail on charges he sexually assaulted two students at Gavin South Middle School. Lanners, Courtney and Keehan are free from jail after posting the required 10 percent of their $5,000 bail. Courtney is scheduled to go to trial July 27 and is due in court July 21. Keehan is due to appear in Lake County court June 25. Vucic is due in court July 23.
