Sale, Chicago White Sox drop a tough one

The Chicago White Sox have lost eight straight games after falling to the Texas Rangers 2-1 Friday night.

Don't blame Chris Sale.

The ace left-hander did everything he could to put the brakes on the Sox' losing streak, pitching 8 shutout innings and allowing only 2 hits.

Sale was working on a perfect game before Hanser Alberto, the Rangers' No. 9 hitter, singled cleanly to center field with two outs in the sixth inning.

Sale also struck out 14 and joined Randy Johnson (1998) and Pedro Martinez ('99) as the only pitchers to have 12 or more strikeouts in five straight games.

Tyler Flowers' solo home run in the fifth inning off Texas starter Colby Lewis put the White Sox in front, but Rangers pinch-hitter Mitch Moreland came through with a 2-run single off closer David Robertson with two outs in the ninth inning to decide the outcome.
