214@100: Highlighting everyday heroes in District 214

Two years ago, District 214 began an internal campaign recognizing everyday heroes - the staff who go above and beyond in their duties.

In emails and through the hashtag #214hero on Twitter, dozens of teachers, custodians, athletic coaches and technology staff, among others, have been nominated for making a difference and leaving a lasting impact.

Among the stories - Rolling Meadows staffers who built a harness to help a wheelchair-bound student walk; a Prospect High School custodian with a warm personality who brightens the day for every student; and a Buffalo Grove teacher who goes out of her way to create science lessons for preschool students.

Throughout the past school year, District 214 has highlighted many of these everyday heroes in short videos. Find them on Twitter at #214hero.

Through a partnership with Jersey Mike's, some are awarded a "hero" sub sandwich. And on social media, students are thanking staff for all they do.

To nominate an everyday hero in the district, send an email to 214hero@d214.org and tell us their story.
